If you’re considering long term parking you might be looking into the options between private companies and those who offer parking services at airports and major transportation hubs. Knowing which one to choose is going to be a subjective practice but in general experience a private company is more appropriate.
Private Companies Vs. Airport Long Term Parking
The main difference that you might see from the outside is the cost. Often it is much cheaper to use airport long term parking facilities however there are reasons for this that need to be considered. When you’re deciding whether or not to use a private company the first thing to look into is the security level. Usually there is minimal security at airports in comparison to private companies. Another issue is that often the long term parking lots at airports are uncovered, leaving your car just as exposed to the elements as if you parked it on the street.
Choosing a Private Company
When you decide to look into long term parking with a private company you should definitely make sure that they offer you more than the cheaper airport parking both in facilities, access and security levels. Leaving a vehicle for an extended period can leave you fraught with concern but a good company will be able to alleviate your fears and worries and allow you to feel confident in the choice.
It’s also important that you ask questions before you agree to anything. By making sure all of your requirements are met in full you will be able to relax and feel sure about the capability of your long term parking company to keep your possession secure at all times. If you look at this option it is worthwhile contacting your insurance company as they may be able to offer to a discounted rate for the period that your car is housed in secure surroundings.

A covered parking lot is a great way to protect one of your biggest investments. If you have a vehicle that is left unattended or parked in a backyard, driveway or on the street for any length of time this alternative is well worth your exploration.
Advantages of A Covered Parking Lot
The main advantage of investing in a space in a covered parking lot is security. Alongside many other reasons that this is a good idea is the knowledge that you are safe and protected. Your vehicle will be easier to insure too and premiums can be reduced by the active work of security personnel who operate on these sites. Another great reason is that you don’t need to worry about weather damage. It’s a popular choice for owners of RVs who may take the vehicle on vacation once or twice a year. Knowing what to do with it for the remainder can be difficult and this is the ideal solution. Using a covered parking lot has also become more popular with students who no longer have to hope that nothing happens when they go home at the end of a semester, especially with cheaper cars that may not make long trips successfully and need to be left behind.
Costs of A Covered Parking Lot
The main costs involved often depend on the type of covered parking lot you decide to go with and the level of security that is offered. There is usually a range of options, from basic covered areas that are open on the sides to something resembling an underground lot. You can also look into garaging options where you’ll get private parking and your own access door. This can be a good option if you want to use the storage area for more than just your vehicle and you can keep other things in the garage while you have the car or other vehicle in use.

Equipment storage has always presented a problem in the past. The garage in your home once served as a convenient place to accumulate all of your possessions, tools and equipment that were either purchased or given as Christmas Gifts, but remained in the garage patiently waiting year after year as the accumulation grew and grew to the point where room became a factor. Even the space once occupied by the family vehicle appeared to be getting smaller and smaller each day. With invention came solutions and the decision to build yet another utility shed for equipment storage, an option or solution?
Equipment Storage and Business Applications
Even in business applications, equipment storage has reached an all time epidemic. With any commercial business, including those not normally classified as businesses such as hospitals, has equipment storage issues that consumes a large part of their lower levels, or maintenance areas. As businesses grow, so too does the equipment storage issue to the point where outside, off-site facilities must be obtained. These off-site equipment storage units offer convenience and versatility and a wide range of unit sizes to accommodate any size business.
Equipment Storage for remote locations
In the construction industry and those businesses that operate in remote areas, such as loggers, equipment storage can yet present a larger problem. In these remote areas there are no convenient storage facilities to store equipment; therefore alternative equipment storage provisions must be made. With the use of portable storage containers or enclosures, those companies that must work in remote areas for their livelihood can rely on the convenience and security of these portable equipment storage containers delivered to on-site locations. These units offer the remote worker the ability to store his expensive tools and equipment there-by allowing and negating the transporting of tools and equipment to and from job sites on a daily basis.

In another unit, I talk about what size of a unit you might want to get. Now, assuming that you have the size identified, you really need to think about what you’re going to do with the stuff that’s in your unit. If you’re in and out of your unit a lot, then you’re going to need a bigger size because you want to have access to the stuff that’s in there. So you might want to stack stuff on either side and leave yourself an aisle down the middle.
A couple of other things that are major space savers, because remember in my family’s storage, our units go up to nine feet high. We have very high ceilings in there. The problem is that when people stack stuff on the floor, it’s hard to get up and take advantage of that cubic space, but you’re paying for every cubic foot in there, not just the floor space, so anything you can do to get stuff up high is going to benefit you.
If you have a mattess in there — and by the way, I would not put a mattress in storage, I’d sell it — and then when you need your mattress back, I’d go buy a new one, instead of storing your mattress. I think that’s a dumb way to spend your money. But, if you do put a mattress in there, I’d tip the mattress up on end. If you have a sofa, I’d tip the sofa up on end. And you can then stack boxes up against the arm inside the sofa.
And if you have fabric things, you want to make sure that you get them up off the ground. If you have a wooden palette, thats a good way to get stuff off the ground, off the concrete floor. At my storage we sell little half inch thick mats that have honeycomb that keeps stuff off the floor. Concrete sweats, and so stuff can get damp, if it’s on a concrete floor even if its dry, like just imagine keeping stuff in your garage, so you want to keep stuff up off the ground, and keep it dry. So I’ve talked about tipping long things up.
